Outside the house we lay patios, put up fencing and build gates, as well as general landscaping. A patio starts with digging out and preparing a firm, level base before the slabs go down, with a slight fall so rainwater runs away from the house. One job in our gallery is a long covered patio with grey tiles running between a brick wall and the fence, and another shows grey slabs being laid with levelling clips beside the back door.
For fencing, we fit timber panels with concrete posts. If a boundary fence is being replaced, it helps to agree beforehand where the run starts and ends, what stays and whether a gate is included; our journal post on boundary fences goes through those decisions. Gates are built to measure and fitted by us, so they suit the opening and match the fence or wall.
Garden walls can be repaired or rebuilt as part of the same work.
